The Hsiung Lab (pronounced sh-OWN) is a biomedical research group interested in understanding and engineering emergent properties of genetic elements.

Within that overarching framework, we are particularly interested in scalable approaches for tackling challenges in the areas of gene regulation, synthetic biology, combinatorial genetics, and tissue biology.

We envision our efforts in both basic science and biological engineering will contribute to the development of therapeutic strategies for common diseases with the highest global burden, including cancer and diseases arising from chronic tissue damage.
